One of the most powerful aspects of @task is the ability to create custom data fields for various objects, such as tasks or projects. This allows you to enter, track, and report on information that is specific to your business. You can add custom data to six different object types:
Most users are familiar with the use of custom data on the following five objects:
1. Users
2. Projects
3. Tasks
4. Companies
5. Issues
However, not many users have realized that you can attach custom data to…documents!
There are some really great benefits to attaching custom data to documents. Below are three example uses:
1. Categorize what type of document it is (i.e., invoice, purchase order, etc.) 2. Create parameters that allow you to tag the document with an approval 3. Tag the document with some piece of information that will help you find the document
later in a search (e.g., keywords)
Custom data like this greatly enhances your ability to search for or report on your documents.
